Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and social media influencer known for his controversial and sexist views, has been arrested in Romania on suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group.

His brother Tristan and two other suspects were also taken into custody by police following a raid on their villa in Bucharest.

The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism is investigating the case, and it has been reported that the suspects are being questioned about their involvement in an organized crime group that used women in adult videos.

Andrew Tate is originally from Washington D.C. but was raised in Luton, England. In a video of his arrest, he can be heard saying, “the Matrix has attacked me,” a reference to his belief that certain political, media, and tech companies hold significant power and control. Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are siblings, were previously questioned by police in April in connection with the case of two girls who claimed they were being held against their will.

The brothers were released while the investigation continued, but they were detained again on Thursday in connection with a wider investigation into human trafficking, rape, and the formation of an organized crime group.

Romanian prosecutors allege that the Tates, along with two other individuals, “appeared to have created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing, and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content, for which they would have gained significant sums of money.”

A spokesperson for Andrew Tate has stated that the Tates “have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can.”

Andrew Tate gained significant internet fame earlier this year and was briefly banned from various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.

After Elon Musk’s takeover of the company, his Twitter account was restored, and Tate resumed posting immediately.

Tate’s brother Tristan has also been detained.

He gained significant internet fame earlier this year and was briefly banned from various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.

His Twitter account was later restored following Elon Musk’s takeover of the company, and Tate resumed posting immediately.

This week, he was involved in a public argument with climate activist Greta Thunberg, boasting about his collection of supercars and asking for Thunberg’s email address to “send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”

Thunberg responded with a tweet that has become one of the most-liked in history, saying: “Yes, please do enlighten me. Email me at smalld***[email protected].”

Tate has also been linked to boxing fights with YouTube stars Jake and Logan Paul and KSI, and he appeared briefly on Celebrity Big Brother before being removed due to footage that emerged of him allegedly beating a woman.

The woman later stated that her relationship with Tate was consensual. Andrew and his brother Tristan have lived together for years in Romania and temporarily moved to Dubai earlier this year.

They were spotted in the Middle East attending Floyd Mayweather’s recent exhibition bout with YouTube star Deji, where Andrew faced off with Jake Paul after the two had squared off in a viral video day prior.

Andrew’s record as a kickboxer and mixed martial artist is disputed, but it is known that he fought at a high level until 2016 and won four world titles.
