The Truth About Kurt Russell And Goldie Hawn's Relationship, According to Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is anything but dishonest. The famed director always pours his authenticity into his incredible array of films. Each and every one of them is deeply personal, whether we know it or not. That's the beauty of his art. However, in interviews, Quentin is usually far more to-the-point. If he likes something, we know about every single aspect that works for him. And if he doesn't, even more so.
Pair Quentin with legendary radio host Howard Stern on a platform like Howard's uncensored Sirius XM show and there's really no stopping him. And this is exactly what happened when Quentin went on Howard's show and started talking about Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's relationship...
Goldie And Kurt Are A Very Different Hollywood Couple... They're Still Together
There are few Hollywood couples as iconic as Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Both are cinema legends. Even more remarkable is the fact that the two have been together for 37 years... That's like 140 years in Hollywood years. Seriously, everyday stars of all ages seem to call it quits more than anyone else.
Perhaps the main reason the two have lasted so long is the fact that they've never officially gotten married. Therefore, a typical Hollywood divorce isn't in the cards.
"For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn't going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have," Kurt Russell told People.
But the fact that Kurt and Goldie, who met on set in the 80s, never got married certainly isn't the only reason that they are still together.
While the couple has been asked about their relationship countless times on various talk shows, Quentin Tarantino seemed to have answered the question about how they've been together for so long without them even being present. He did this in 2015 when he went on The Howard Stern Show to promote The Hateful Eight, which starred Kurt Russell.
Here's what he had to say...
Having Dinner With Kurt And Goldie
During Quentin's excellent interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2015, the famed filmmaker was unbelievably honest. He spoke out about the terror of police brutality against people of color, which he has been criticizing long before the renewed movements in 2020. He even accused Disney of extortion.
But one of the most interesting moments was when he spoke about Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's relationship. The topic came up when Howard was asking about the professionalism of the cast of The Hateful Eight, which Quentin was promoting. The conversation soon spiraled into whether or not Kurt was faithful to his partner of many years.
"They are solid as a rock," Quentin said of Kurt and Goldie's relationship.
"Have you spent time with the two of them?" Howard asked.
"Oh yeah! She's such a cool chick," Quentin said.
Quentin then went into a story about how he was invited to have dinner with Kurt and Goldie while they were filming Death Proof. In fact, they went to dinner at a bar/chili parlor that was used as a location in the film itself. Even though he thought Goldie would have wanted to go to a fancy restaurant, it turned out that she was all for a run-of-the-mill chili parlor.
"I'm just like kinda nervous," Quentin admitted to Howard Stern about meeting Goldie Hawn for the first time. "I just wanted it to be nice for her. So, I arrive 15 minutes earlier. To get a table. It's a bar. We're eating at a bar."
Unfortunately for Quentin, there was an important football game on that night so the bar was just packed with wild sports fans.
"I'm so prepared for her to take one look and bolt for the door," Quentin said. "And she didn't give a s***! Didn't give a f***ing s***!"
But it was the way that Goldie handled her famous husband which was even more interesting to Quentin.
Goldie Gives Kurt 'The Talking Stick'
Quentin told Howard Stern that Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are always giving each other 's***" like an old married couple... And this dynamic seems to keep their romance in check.
"Kurt is a loudmouth. No doubt about it," Quentin admitted of his friend and colleague. "[Goldie] has dealt with his loudmouth for a long time and knows how to deal with it. And likes it. That's why they're together. So, we're getting into some big serious discussion about whatever the f*** we were talking about. I don't really remember. So, Kurt's holding court. 'And I gotta tell you this!' 'And another thing!'... Da, da, da, da, da, da da. And then, all of a sudden, Goldie takes out a felt pen and says, 'Kurt, I'm gonna let you finish your point. But this is called The Talking Stick. And now I'm going to officially give you The Talking Stick. Now, you are to wrap up what the hell it is you're trying to say, and then you shall hand The Talking Stick to somebody else. At which point, you SHUT THE F*** UP FOR A WHILE!'"
Without a doubt, Goldie Hawn keeps her husband in line.
